 The founders of LegalShield, previously known as Pre-Paid Legal Services, Inc., are Harland Stonecipher and his wife, Shirley Stonecipher. The company was established in 1972 with the aim of providing affordable legal services to individuals and families.

The story of LegalShield began when Harland Stonecipher, a young insurance salesman, found himself involved in a serious car accident in 1969. Despite not being at fault, he faced significant legal expenses to defend himself. This experience made him realize the need for a legal service that could be accessible and affordable for everyone.

Stonecipher started researching and developing a concept for a legal services membership plan. He envisioned a system where individuals could pay a monthly fee and have access to legal advice and representation whenever needed. In 1972, he officially launched Pre-Paid Legal Services, Inc., which later became LegalShield.

The company initially faced challenges in gaining acceptance and credibility in the legal industry. However, Stonecipher's determination and belief in the concept paid off. LegalShield gradually gained recognition and expanded its services across the United States and Canada.

Over the years, LegalShield has evolved and adapted to the changing legal landscape. The company offers a wide range of legal services, including consultation, document review, contract drafting, and representation in various legal matters. They have also expanded their services to include identity theft protection and restoration.

Today, LegalShield is a leading provider of legal services, serving millions of individuals, families, and small businesses. As for the founders, Harland Stonecipher passed away in 2014, leaving behind a legacy of innovation and commitment to affordable legal services. Shirley Stonecipher, his wife and co-founder, has also been instrumental in the success of LegalShield. Their vision and dedication have shaped the company into what it is today.

To cover your entire family with these benefits is only 8.98 per week, and that covers both the legal and the identity theft plans. That price covers you and your spouse or significant other, and your children up to the age of 26, as long as they are living at home, or are full time college students. If you are single with no kids, the individual rate is only $7.59 per week.
